MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Southeast tennis squad came up short in Morehead, Ky. at the Sadler Courts this weekend by a score of 4-3. The Redhawks were able to earn the doubles point, but only earned two points in singles play. They now hold a record of 3-8 overall and a 2-3 Ohio Valley Conference mark. Morehead State improves to 2-1 in conference play with their two wins this weekend.

In singles, senior Bryce Kristal and junior Julia Masotti were the only Redhawks earning wins. B. Kristal remains undefeated in OVC competition as she easily captured the No. 1 slot win after posting a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Alexandra Rydberg. Masotti had to battle to three sets in No. 3 action, but she was still able to defeat Meg Rozboril 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

In No. 3 singles, senior Drew Kristal kept it close between her opponent before finally falling 7-5, 6-2 to Madeleinne Antero. Sophomore Alyce Kelly saw her first OVC loss of the season in No. 4 play after going down to Heather Butt 6-0, 7-6. In the No. 5 spot, sophomore Elise Nattier came up short to Lauren Delaney 7-6, 6-4. Rounding out the lineup in No. 6 singles, freshman Taylor Orahood succumbed by identical scores of 6-0 to Alix Lakow.

The Redhawks were able to pick up the doubles point by winning in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 team of the Kristals battled in a close match and notched an 8-6 win over Butt/Espinosa. Masotti and Kelly were able to win by an even larger margin of 8-4 over Rozboril/Rydberg in No. 2 competition. Despite winning the doubles point, Southeast couldn't win the final doubles match as Nattier and Orahood fell to Lakow and Antero 8-0.

Southeast returns to action on Saturday when they go up against Upper Iowa and Milwaukee in Macomb, Ill. at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Then on Sunday, they will compete against Western Illinois at 9 a.m.
