Southeast Tennis Captures First Win of Season Against Tennessee State

JACKSON, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State tennis squad took down the Tennessee State Tigers today by a score of 4-2 at the Class Act Family Fitness courts. Earning their first win of the season, the Redhawks also kept the Tigers winless this season. Southeast is now 1-16 (1-5 OVC) on the year, while the Tigers continue to drop as they are currently 0-10 (0-7 OVC).

In singles action, Julia Masotti picked up her fourth victory of the season after taking down Meagan Haynes 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1 play. Elise Nattier earned her first win on the year in No. 2 singles as she downed Penelope Johnson 6-1, 6-4. Anna LeBoeuf also experienced her first win this season as she dropped Teirra Sharpe 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot. In No. 4 singles, Erika Seabaugh couldn't come up with a win as she went down 6-1, 6-2 to Lia Stewart. Picking up the final point for the Redhawks, Kara True earned her first victory this season after coming out on top over Melissa Martin 6-4, 6-5 in No. 5 action. Rounding out the lineup in No. 6 singles, Sarah Pettigrew lost to Dania Lofton 6-0, 6-3.

Doubles were not played today as Southeast already won the match following the completion of singles competition.

The Redhawks will look to continue their winning in Murray, Ky. on Tuesday when they will take on the Murray State Racers at 3 p.m. Following that match, Southeast will host their final home match of the season on Thursday at 2 p.m. against Tennessee-Martin.
