Women's Tennis Loses to UT Martin, 6-1

By Jeff Honza CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Elizabeth Nyenwe earned her fourth-consecutive singles victory, but Southeast Missouri (1-11, 0-5) fell to UT Martin (11-7, 7-0), 6-1, Tuesday afternoon at the Redhawks Tennis Complex. Nyenwe defeated Alice Lang, 6-1, 6-4, in straight sets at the No. 2 spot, earning Southeast's only point on the day. She improved to 7-5 overall and stayed perfect at 5-0 in the OVC in singles play this season. UT Martin, which is atop the OVC standings, won five of the six singles matches and swept all three doubles bouts. The Skyhawks have a league-high 11 wins this year. Southeast returns to action when it hosts Tennessee State Thursday. |
