Women's Tennis Loses to Eastern Kentucky, 7-0
April 8, 2011
By Jeff Honza CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (2-12, 1-6) dropped a 7-0 decision to Eastern Kentucky (12-10, 4-3) Friday afternoon in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Redhawks Tennis Complex. Southeast's doubles tandem of Nikole Novikova and Elizabeth Nyenwe defeated Jessica Albuquerque and Saioa Oscoz, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot, but that was all the Redhawks could get against the Colonels. Southeast, after losing in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, fell in all six singles matches. Nyenwe saw a streak of five-straight singles victories end when she fell to Myriem Mhirit, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 2 position. Today marked the Redhawks final home match of the season. Southeast will face Creighton in Carbondale, Ill., on Apr. 9 before closing out the year at Eastern Illinois on Apr. 10. |
