CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.- The 2002 Spring schedule has not been kind to the Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team. Playing in their only home meet of the Spring season, the Otahkians dropped a match 7-0 to the Eastern Illinois Panthers on a beautiful Thursday at the Southeast Tennis Complex.

The early going look promising for Southeast (2-13, 1-4 OVC) as the double competition was close. Southeast teams of Daniela Garcia and Adrienne Bland and Kay Ehlke and Lara Golike both fought hard but came up short in tiebreakers, 9-8 each.

Following doubles, Otahkian Andrea Aldana was forced to withdraw after a set with the flu and had to retire her singles match. Southeast lost the remaining singles matches with Garcia coming the closest to the victory, falling 6-3, 6-4 to Eastern Illinois (8-6, 4-2 OVC) number one player Becky Brunner.

Southeast will conclude its season this weekend when they travel to both Tennessee Tech and Morehead State.
