Tennis Has Impressive Opening Meet Freshman Cassie Foster gets to finals of main draw singles competition.

CHARLESTON, Ill. - The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team opened the Fall practice season with an impressive showing at the Eastern Illinois Tournament. Two Otahkians, freshmen Cassie Foster and Tyla Wells, made it to the finals of the main and consolation draws. Foster, a standout at Incarnate Word Academy last season, won three matches to advance to the finals of the main draw before losing in the championship game. Wells, after losing one match, won three consecutive games to reach the finals of the consolation draw before falling. In doubles, the number one duo of Wells and Daniela Garcia also played well, making it into the semifinals of the main doubles draw. Kay Ehlke and Foster made it to the consolation final of the #3 doubles draw. Coach Donna Ryan was pleased with her teams opening showing. "I think overall we performed very well," Ryan said. "We won enough matches to get some experience and move forward and we can also learn from our losses." Southeast will be back in action at the end of the month when they travel to a tournament at the University of Evansville on Septebmer 28 and 29. Singles Draw #1
