Southeast gains first dual meet victory of the Fall season.


Junior Adrienne Bland's 6-4, 6-4 singles victory on Saturday pushed Southeast to a 4-3 victory over UMKC.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - On a chilly Saturday morning, the Southeast Missouri State tennis squad used strong singles performances to push by UMKC 4-3.

After losing the doubles competition, Southeast made the most of their singles matches, gaining victories in four of the six matches to pull out the victory. Freshman Daniela Garcia, sophomore's Andrea Aldana and Kay Ehlke and junior Adrienne Bland all won their matches in two sets for the singles victories.

Bland's 6-4, 6-4 victory was the final match of the day and pushed the competion from a 3-3 tie to a 4-3 Southeast final advantage.

Last season, UMKC defeated Southeast 4-1.

Southeast will face Bradley tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. in their final meet of the Fall practice season.
