The Southeast Missouri State Otahkian tennis team will open their 2002 Spring campaign with a matchup against Conference USA member Saint Louis University, who is also playing in its first competition on the Spring.

Following the Saturday matchup, the Otahkians will travel to Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers on Sunday. Mizzou will play their first match on Saturday when they host Southern Illinois. Last season the Tigers defeated Southeast by a margin of 6-0 on March 10.

Southeast finished the Fall portion of its schedule with victories over UMKC and Bradley at the Southeast Tennis Complex back in October.

The Otahkians got several good performances during the Fall season, especially from freshman Tyla Wells who played in the #1 and #2 positions in the lineup. Wells had a 2-1 record in the final three duel meets in October.

Youth will be a big factor for the Otahkians this Spring, as only one upperclassman is included on the roster of six players.
