Redhawks Tennis Hosts OVC Foe Morehead State in Home Opener

March 10, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State tennis hosts Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) opponent Morehead State in Sunday's home opener at 9 a.m. The dual will be played at the Redhawks Tennis Complex located at the intersection of Bertling and Sprigg Streets in Cape Girardeau.

Southeast is expected to sport the same lineup they used yesterday at Arkansas State. Junior Bryce Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) and her twin sister, Drew Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) continue to play from the No. 1 and 2 singles positions. Senior Luz Garcia (Bogota, Colombia/Troy) will compete in the No. 3 singles match while sophomore Julia Masotti (Moji-Mirim, São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Integral Aplicado) takes aim at the win in No. 4 singles play. Freshman Elise Nattier (Flora, Ill./Flora) ran her singles win streak to three matches with an exciting three-set win yesterday at Arkansas State in No. 5 singles. Rounding out the lineup is senior Kimmy Anderson (Jackson, Mo./Jackson), who will compete in the No. 6 singles slot.

In doubles action, the Kristal sisters will attempt to win their sixth match in No. 1 play. Masotti and Nattier form the No. 2 doubles tandem with seniors Garcia and Anderson playing as the No. 3 doubles duo.

The Redhawks (3-5, 1-1 OVC) split their first two OVC matches last weekend against Samford and Jacksonville State in Birmingham, Ala. Sunday's home opener will mark the first of five OVC duals that will take place this spring at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.

Morehead State (1-4, 0-0 OVC) is coming off its first win of the season on Wednesday over Georgetown College. The Eagles are led by sophomore Heather Butt in No. 1 singles and doubles.
