Drew Kristal Wins OVC Female Tennis Athlete of the Week Award

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast junior Drew Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) was named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Female Tennis Athlete of the Week Thursday. Kristal was 3-0 in No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles last week against Tennessee State, Missouri-Kansas City and Huntington. She joins her twin sister, Bryce Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill), who won the award two weeks ago. Fellow teammate, Julia Masotti (Moji-Mirim, São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Integral Aplicado) won the award during the final week of the 2006 season.

Following Thursday's victory against Sioux Falls, Kristal is now 8-4 as the No. 2 singles player, including her current seven-match winning streak. She is 3-1 in OVC play thus far. Dating back to March 4, she has won 14 consecutive sets in singles action. On the doubles court, she has teamed with her twin sister, Bryce Kristal, to win lead the OVC with 10 victories in No. 1 competiton. They also have won seven straight matches together.

Kristal and the Redhawks are currently in the middle of a four-match spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Southeast returns to play Friday morning against Hope College from Holland, Mich. at 8 a.m. EST from the Hilton Head Tennis Resort.
