Women's Tennis to Play Tennessee State
April 2, 2003 CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State Tennis team (2-5) will play host to the Tennessee State Tigers (0-6). This match was rescheduled from earlier this season after being rained out. The match will begin at 2 p.m. on April 4 at the Southeast Tennis Courts. The Otahkians are eager for another OVC win after edging Austin Peay 5-2 earlier this week. In that match Southeast won four single matches with Daniela Garcia, Andrea Aldana, Kay Ehlke, and Cristina Garcia all taking wins. Southeast doubles, D. Garcia/Aldana and C.Garcia/Walker won in the No. 1 seed and the No. 3 seed taking the doubles point. "We need to beat Tennessee State to assure us a spot in the conference tournament," said coach Stevens. "After that we will just try to improve a little bit each practice and learn from each match and see how we end up at the end of the season." Tennessee State is currently 0-6 for the season and 0-3 in the OVC. Garald Robinson coaches the TSU Tigers. "Tennessee State has also had problems getting in matches because of the weather," said Stevens. "Both teams have been at the bottom of the OVC for several years but our players have a lot of confidence and it should be a good match." Next, the Otahkians will remain at home to play host to Tennessee-Martin. The match will begin at 2 p.m. on April 8 at the Southeast Tennis Courts. |
