Tennis Signs One For Upcoming Season

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast head tennis coach Mike Stevens has signed freshman Daniela Petkova for the 2003-2004 season.

Petkova, a native of Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, will be an incoming freshman in the Fall of 2003. She is a graduate of De Mortagne High School where she was highly ranked under the coaching of Yann Rapini. She was ranked 818th in the world doubles rankings in 2002. In 2002 she was also ranked 44th nationally in singles and 36th nationally in doubles in Canada.

Since April 2001 Petkova has been a Doubles Quarterfinalist in seven different events. In April 2002 she was a Doubles Quarterfinalist in the Canadian U18 ITF Event and in March she was a 16U Doubles Qaurterfinalist in the Canadian Indoor Nationals.

"Daniela has had great results as a junior," said Stevens. "She is the type of player that will have an immediate impact on the success of the team."
