Southeast Tennis falls short after first round in Tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Southeast Women's tennis team played their first round in the St. Louis Fall Women's Classic tennis tournament today with a final result falling short of advancing at any level. Southeast is competing against St. Louis University, Eastern Illinois, Memphis, Wichita State, and Xavier University in the tournament.

Daniella Garcia was defeated by Stephanie Bauer from Xavier University in the "A" singles bracket and plays again tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. against Becky Brunner of Eastern Illinois for advancement in the consolation bracket.

Andrea Aldana lost to Becky Carlson from Eastern Illinois and plays Genevieve Spinks of Wichita State at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow in the consolation bracket for the "B" singles. Southeast's Adrienne Bland also played in the "B" singles division and was defeated by Amber Lenfert from Eastern Illinois. She will also play at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow against Wendy Webster from Wichita State.

Kay Ehlke represented Southeast in the "C" singles and lost to Andrea Kelly from Xaiver University. Cassie Foster and Amanda Walker played in the "D" singles divison and will play in the consolation round tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. against Lindsay Winninger and Rebecca Steer of SLU.

In the "A" doubles bracket Southeast's team of Garcia and Bland were defeated by Weightman and K. Clary from Xavier and will play tomorrow in the consolation round.

Southeast's teams Foster and Aldana and Ehike and Walker both advance to the consolation round for the "B" doubles. They will play again at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow.
