CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Coming off a positive showing at their opening contest of the Fall practice season, the Southeast Missouri State Otahkian tennis team will travel to Evansville, Ind. to compete in their second Fall tournament.

At Eastern Illinois two weeks ago, the Otahkians got strong showings out of the entire team, especially freshmen Tyla Wells and Cassie Foster. Foster made it to the finals of her bracket's draw before falling 6-2, 6-1. Wells lost her opening match and then advanced to the finals of the consolation draw of her bracket. The doubles team of Foster and Kay Ehlke also lost their first contest before ending up in the championship of the consolation bracket.

Foster will set out this weekend's tournament, however, due to a virus that will keep her sidelined for the next two-three weeks.

Head coach Donna Ryan is looking for the same type of progress out of her team this weekend. "I think this weekend will be a much more challenging tournament because it was last season," Ryan said. "I would like to see our returning players make it a little further in the main draw this week so they can have a few more games under their belt."
