Redhawks Capture Three Titles at Hinds-Kellogg Classic

MACOMB, Ill. - Southeast Missouri State tennis finished with a 7-0 record on the final day Saturday at the second annual Hinds-Kellogg Classic, located on the campus of Western Illinois. The Redhawks finished the tournament with a combined 10-2 record in both singles and doubles.

Senior Bryce Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) and junior Julia Masotti (Moji-Mirim, São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Integral Aplicado) captured event titles for Southeast, while Bryce and senior Drew Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) gained a pair of victories to claim the Flight `A' doubles championship.

Bryce Kristal knocked off Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Kelly Drvaric in the Flight `A' singles semifinal round with a 6-2, 6-3 win before posting a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Allison Schmitz of Lewis in the finals. Drew Kristal claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Quincy's Anele Novak in the Flight `A' consolation bracket. Masotti defeated Lindsay Blair of Truman State by a score of 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (3) and Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Martina Schnapp via a 6-3, 6-1 margin to win the Flight `B' singles crown.

In the Flight `A' doubles bracket, Bryce and Drew Kristal produced an 8-2 semifinal win over Schmitz and Melanie Sandberg of Lewis before capturing an 8-1 victory over Blair and Courtney Walther from Truman State in the finals.

Southeast returns to action on Oct. 17-21 when it competes at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
