Renata Nowacki enters her fourth season as head coach of the Southeast Missouri State volleyball team. This past season, Nowacki led the Redhawks to a 20-12 overall record to equal the most victories since 2002 and a first place finish in the OVC with a record of 15-5, the most conference wins since 2000. The Redhawks closed out the regular season by winning 12 of their last 13 matches, including an impressive eight-match winning streak. The Redhawks also extended their impressive streak of 17 consecutive appearances in the OVC Tournament.
As well as guiding the Redhawks to their first OVC regular season title in seven years, Nowacki was named OVC Coach of the Year, her first such honor.
During the 2006 campaign the Redhawks finished with a 16-18 overall record and finished sixth in the OVC with a record of 8-8 and a OVC Tournament appearance. In the OVC Tournament, the Redhawks posted a pair of upsets to advance to the OVC Tournament finals against eventual champion Jacksonville State. It was their first appearance in the championship match since 2002.
In her first season, Nowacki guided the Redhawks to post a season record of 16-16, the program's first finish at .500 since 2001. The team placed fifth in the OVC with a record of 11-5. The Redhawks upset fourth-seeded Eastern Illinois in the OVC tournament quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals for the first time since the 2002 campaign.
Coach "Ren" used her ability to motivate her players to lead the team to 10 wins in their final 14 matches to clinch their postseason appearance. That same motivation and using her experience as a former collegiate player helped her mold two Redhawks (Jessica Koeper and Jamie Baumstark) into All-OVC selections.
Nowacki took over the Redhawks program on Feb. 2, 2005 after serving as an understudy to coaching legend Cindy Gannon for four years as a graduate assistant and assistant coach for the Southeast program.
Nowacki has coached two AVCA All-Region selections, six First Team and four Second Team All-OVC selections, three OVC All-Newcomer Team selections, one AVCA National Player of the Week and 15 OVC Players of the Week since arriving at Southeast.
Originally from Stoney Creek, Ontario, Nowacki has been Club Director for SEMO Attack Volleyball Club for the past six years. In addition, she has been camp director for all Southeast volleyball camps and has coached at various high school and collegiate camps throughout the United States and Canada.
A standout collegiate volleyball player at the University of Mississippi where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2001. In 2004, Nowacki received her Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Southeast. She holds career records of fifth all-time in assists with 2,023 and fourth in single-season assists with a total of 1,378 in 2000. Nowacki also tied the school's single-match assist record with 73 helpers against Auburn. In her senior season, she averaged 11.68 assists and 2.64 digs per game.
Nowacki is engaged to Grant Heard, an assistant football coach at Lambuth University. Nowacki resides in Cape Girardeau with her boxers Remi and Rocky.
