Randi Raff begins her first season as an assistant with the Redhawks volleyball program. She comes to Southeast Missouri after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Purdue University where she served as the primary trainer for the Boilermakers volleyball, diving and nationally ranked women's golf team. She also served as the trainer for the Boilermakers cheerleading squad. "Randi brings a tremendous amount of energy to our program," says Coach Nowacki. "She shares the same goals and will complement our staff nicely." Raff's primary responsibilities will include tape breakdown and exchange, coordinate travel and supervising team academic progress to go with her on-court coaching. Her previous coaching experiences include serving as a volunteer assistant coach at St. Joseph's College in her hometown of Rensselaer, Indiana this past spring. She also spent a stint as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, the University of Southern Indiana in February after serving as an assistant coach at nearby Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, Indiana where she also worked as a teacher's assistant. Raff played collegiately at Southern Indiana where she lettered three seasons as an outside hitter for the Screaming Eagles. She played in 40 matches over her career and averaged 1.6 kills and 1.4 digs per game over that span. During her time at USI she helped the team record 93 wins including two NCAA Division II Tournament berths.
Her senior season she captained the team to a 24-7 record and a Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season and tournament championship earning the automatic NCAA tournament appearance. An honor roll student at USI she graduated in 2005 with a degree in Exercise Science. In 2007 she graduated from Purdue with a Masters in Health and Kinesiology. While earning her masters and serving as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Purdue she became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association). She attended Rensselaer Central High School where she earned letters in volleyball, basketball, tennis and softball. She was a two-time All-Hoosier Conference selection and was named the Rensselaer Republican All-Area Player of the Year her senior season when she led her team in kills. Raff is the proud owner of a three-year old black lab named Bentley who also serves as her running partner. Raff is an avid runner who has competed in two mini marathons (13.1 miles) over the past two years. |
