Box Score

OXFORD, Miss. - Southeast Missouri State volleyball concluded play at the Ole Miss Magnolia Invitational this evening with a 3-1 loss (28-30, 30-26, 17-30, 25-30) to UALR at the Gillom Sports Complex in Oxford, Miss. With the win, UALR hikes its record to 2-2, while Southeast drops to 1-3 on the year.

Leading the Redhawks was senior setter Jamie Baumstark (Hermann, Mo./Hermann), who recorded the fourth triple-double of her career with 34 assists, 17 kills and 15 digs. Senior outside hitter Jessica Koeper (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) posted her second double-double of the weekend with 19 kills and 18 digs and junior middle blocker Brenna Schlader (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) added 11 kills. Freshman libero Molly Davis (Muncie, Ind./Burris) tallied 15 digs and four service aces for Southeast.

A Schlader kill broke a 10-10 tie in the first game that started a quick run of four straight service points for Southeast that included two service aces by Davis for a 14-10 advantage. The Trojans later tied the score at 18-18 on a kill by Amila Barakovic and later claimed a 24-22 lead on a Southeast ball handling error. After freshman middle blocker Hannah Weis (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word) tied the game at 27-27 with a kill, UALR would score three of the next four points to capture a 1-0 lead.

In the second game, both teams would battle through seven ties until UALR scored five straight points to gain a 23-18 lead. However, the Redhawks tallied a five-point stretch of their own to even the score at 23-23. Two kills by Anita Bacur were part of a three-point run that helped the Trojans snatch a 26-23 advantage. A Weis kill later opened a game-ending 7-0 run for Southeast that evened the match at one game apiece heading into the break.

UALR earned an early 8-4 lead in the third game on a block by Ivanka Davidova and Sanda Dzile, while a kill by Bacur later extended its lead at 15-8. Kills by Koeper and Schlader brought Southeast to within five points at 19-14, but the Trojans used an 11-3 scoring drive to earn the win.

After the Trojans opened the fourth game with a 7-4 lead, Southeast received kills from Baumstark and Koeper to trim its deficit to a point at 7-6. A Dilyana Deyanova kill concluded a 6-1 run which increased UALR's lead to 13-7, but another Baumstark kill later gave the Redhawks a short lead at 15-14 as part of a 7-2 comeback drive. Barakovic produced five kills to open an 8-1 scoring run that gave the Trojans a 22-16 lead. UALR managed to close out the match by scoring eight of the final 17 points.

Barakovic tallied a double-double of 21 digs and 19 kills to lead the Trojans, while Davidova added 19 kills and seven blocks (three solo, four assisted). Dzile posted a match-best 56 assists and Ana Carolina Buccini posted 30 digs for UALR.

Next up for Southeast is a match against Sacramento State to open the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Sept. 1 with a start time of 5 p.m.
