Volleyball Closes UNF Labor Day Classic With Two Losses

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State volleyball suffered a pair of losses today on the second day of the North Florida Labor Day Classic at UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The Redhawks (3-3) dropped a 3-0 (19-30, 14-30, 24-30) decision to Weber State before falling to UTSA, 3-1 (27-30, 30-28, 30-22, 30-23), in their final match of the tournament. In the first game, Weber State produced a .385 hitting percentage, including a .485 hitting clip in the first game. The Redhawks were paced by senior middle blocker Brenna Schlader's (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) nine kills with a .750 hitting percentage and eight kills from junior outside hitter Aubrey Dondlinger (Palos Heights, Ill./Parkland CC). Sophomore libero Molly Davis (Muncie, Ind./Burris) contributed 10 digs, while sophomore right side hitter Karleigh DeLong (Corona, Calif./Santiago) added six kills and six digs. Junior setter Alyssa Aston (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) tallied 11 assists, a career-best four kills and four digs. Sophomore Micah Lines led the Wildcats with a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs in addition to junior Brittney Bisaillon adding 10 kills and three block assists. Sophomore Chelsea Bare produced eight kills and six service aces, while freshman Kim Lissna notched a match-best 36 assists. Three players notched double-figure kills for UTSA in the second game, led by freshman Kendra Rowland's 22 kills and 19 digs. Junior Victoria Prior added 18 kills and junior Gena Rhodes recorded 14 kills in addition to junior Rebecca Hrapmann's double-double of 64 assists and 14 digs. Junior Audrey Hiser tallied 26 digs for the Roadrunners. Southeast was guided by Dondlinger's double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs. Senior outside hitter Brittany Hastings (Wichita, Kan./Circle) contributed 11 kills, Schlader added 10 kills and four block assists, and Davis finished with 27 digs. Aston posted her first career double-double with a career-high 35 assists and 13 digs. Schlader was honored for the second week in a row as she was named to the Labor Day Classic all-tournament team. Next up for the Redhawks will be the Santo Bento Volleyball Invitational on Friday, Sept. 7 against Saint Louis with the first serve is set for 7 p.m. |
