Fonke contributed three kills and a solo block as part of a 14-7 run as Saint Louis claimed its biggest lead of the stanza at 23-14. The Redhawks later closed to within 28-25 after Hastings recorded three straight service points, but SLU scored the final two points to even the match at 1-1 heading into intermission.

Kills from Schlader and Dondlinger gave the Redhawks an 8-6 lead to start the fourth game and the lead later increased to 20-14 on a kill from Barth.
