CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State volleyball kicked off its home schedule tonight at Houck Fieldhouse, but Murray State proved to be rude guests as it captured a 3-0 win (30-24, 33-31, 30-25) in a Ohio Valley Conference contest. The Racers improved their record to 5-8 (2-2) this season, while the Redhawks dropped to 5-8 (2-2).

Junior outside hitter Aubrey Dondlinger (Palos Heights, Ill./Parkland CC), sophomore setter Sarah Barth (Germantown, Ill./Central) and sophomore right side hitter Karleigh DeLong (Corona, Calif./Santiago) posted double-doubles to lead Southeast. Dondlinger finished with a match-best 17 kills and added 14 digs. Barth tallied 48 assists and 11 digs and DeLong recorded 15 kills and 20 digs on the night. Sophomore libero Molly Davis (Muncie, Ind./Burris) also produced 20 digs for the Redhawks and freshman outside hitter Claire Keaton (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word) notched 12 digs.

Murray State jumped out to a 9-3 lead early in the first game on a service ace from junior Alison Mugler before the home team rebounded with a 7-3 run to slice its deficit to 12-10 on a Dondlinger kill. The Racers would then outscore Southeast by a 13-9 margin to increase their lead to 25-19 that culminated with a Redhawk hitting error. Kills from Dondlinger and Barth closed Murray State's gap to 26-22 before the visitors scored four of the final six points to claim a 1-0 lead.

The Redhawks bounced back to open the second game with an 11-7 lead on a kill from DeLong and a Dondlinger service ace. A kill from senior middle blocker Brenna Schlader (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) later hiked the home team's advantage at 13-9. Dondlinger scored with another service ace to later give Southeast its biggest lead of the stanza at 19-13 before the Racers responded with a 14-8 scoring drive that eventually tied the score at 27-27. After five ties, Murray State used a kill from freshman Becca Lamb and a solo block from senior Tara DeMage for the final two points and headed into intermission with a two-game advantage.

In the third game, the Racers gained a slim 9-7 lead on kill by DeMage, but Southeast regrouped and scored three of the next four points to even the score at 10-10 on a service ace from junior middle blocker Kim Unnerstall (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia). The Redhawks then tallied a short 3-1 run to capture a 13-11 advantage on a block by Schlader and senior outside hitter Brittany Hastings (Wichita, Kan./Circle). Murray State later broke a 15-15 tie by scoring 11 of the next 18 points to produce a 26-22 lead on a kill from freshman Sara Hayden. After a Dondlinger kill pulled Southeast to within 28-24, the Racers scored two of the final three points for the win.

Lamb tallied 13 kills to lead three Murray State players who recorded double-digit kills, while Hayden finished with 12 kills and a match-high five blocks. Junior Alyssa Groves (11 kills and 18 digs) and sophomore Cassie Chesney (49 assists, 11 digs) added double-doubles for the Racers, and junior Heather Norris contributed 17 digs.

The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they welcome Tennessee-Martin to Houck Fieldhouse for an Ohio Valley Conference showdown beginning at 2 p.m.
