RICHMOND, Ky. (Satuday, October 25, 2008) - The Redhawks volleyball team completed their "Death Valley" road trip today with a win over Eastern Kentucky in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-21). The Redhawks have now won five-straight matches against the Colonels, with their last lost coming in 2005.

The Redhawks (9-11, 7-5 OVC) have now won two-straight matches and are currently in fifth place in the OVC. The Colonels fall to (5-17, 4-8 OVC) and have their two-game win streak snapped and are currently seventh in the OVC.

The opening set started off close as the teams jumped out to a 5-5 tie, but after that the Redhawks would take over and go on a 11-1 run to grab the lead at 16-6. The Colonels would go on a 7-0 run from that point to get back into it and trail by only three at 16-13. The Redhawks would take a timeout to regain composure and would dominate the rest of the way. The Redhawks would take the set after an attack error by Jessica Meads, the Colonels ninth of the set.

The Redhawks defense held the Colonels to an attack percentage of .128 in the set.

The Colonels jumped out to a quick set two lead at 3-2 with a kill by Amanda Wilson, but that would be the last lead they would see as the Redhawks led the rest of the way. The Redhawks would take the lead 10-6 after a 7-3 scoring run, which was capped off with a Claire Keaton kill. The Redhawks would expand their lead throughout the set, before Keaton finally closed it out with another kill.

The Redhawks recorded a .333 attack percentage in the set and continued to dominate on the defensive end as they held the Colonels to a .139 percentage.

The final set was the toughest set for the Redhawks as the set consisted of nine tie scores and three lead changes. The Colonels had the early lead until an Aubrey Dondlinger kill tied the set up at 10-10. After multiple lead changes, the set would once again be tied after Bridget Mustard recorded a kill to make the score 19-19. The Redhawks would finally take the lead for good and go on a 6-2 run, capped off by an Amanda Rickhoff kill to give the Redhawks the set and match victory.

The Redhawks recorded 19 kills and a match-high .356 attack percentage in the final set.

The Redhawks completed the match with a season-best .307 attack percentage and held the Colonels to a .169 attack percentage.

Dondlinger continued her brilliant play as she matched a season-high with 18 kills and chipped in with seven digs. She also recorded a career-high .500 attack percentage.

Keaton just missed a double-double as she recorded 10 kills and nine digs. Sarah Barth handed out a match-high 37 assists and two service aces.
