Redhawks Fall to Lady Govs in Straight Sets

Nov. 15, 2008

Final Stats

CLARKSVILLE, TN. (Friday, November 14, 2008) - The Redhawks volleyball team dropped their second-straight conference match as they fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-11) to Austin Peay at the Dunn Center on Friday evening. Though the Redhawks lost, they secured fifth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings and assured the program their 18th-straight OVC Tournament berth.

The first set was closely fought as the Redhawks (12-13, 10-7 OVC) and Lady Govs (20-10, 12-5 OVC) traded the lead once and settled on seven ties in the early going.

However, a 6-1 Austin Peay run turned an 8-8 tie into a 14-9 lead they would not relinquish. The second and third sets, while close in score, were controlled by Austin Peay the entire way as the Redhawks struggled to put consecutive points together.

Aubrey Dondlinger finished with a match-high 14 kills and finished with just two attack errors for a team-best .293 attack percentage. She also added nine digs and two block assists to finish with a game-high 15 points.

Claire Keaton finished with her team-best seventh double-double of the season with 12 kills and 14 digs. She recorded just three attack errors for a .257 percentage.

Setter Sarah Barth also recorded a double-double, matching Keaton for the team-high. She handed out a game-high 33 assists and recorded 11 digs. She continued her perfect defensive play as she has yet to commit a receiving error this season.

Molly Davis had a game-high 17 digs extending her streak of double-digit matches to 18-straight.

Kirstin Distler led the Lady Govs with 13 kills and a match-high .464 attack percentage. As a team the Lady Govs outhit the Redhawks with a .259 team attack percentage.

The Redhawks conclude the season tomorrow as they face Tennessee State in Nashville at 2:00 p.m.
