Redhawks Volleyball Inks Two More Prep Standouts

April 27, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Thursday, April 27, 2006) Southeast volleyball coach Renata Nowacki announced the addition of two prep volleyball standouts to the team for the 2006 season. Hannah Weis and Brooke Boyer each announced their intent to play for Southeast Missouri State University.

Hannah Weis stands 5-10 and hails from St. Louis, Missouri where she played at prep power Incarnate Word Academy. Weis brings a history of wining to Southeast as she was a member of three-straight state championship teams. At Incarnate Word she was a 2005 1st Team All-State selection. She was also a 2005 All-Region selection as well as garnering her second-straight All-District award. At the prestigious Belleville East Tournament in 2005 she led her team to the tournament title on her way to earning Tournament Most Valuable Player accolades.

She has seen much success on the club circuit leading her team to a 3rd place finish at the 2004 Nationals. At the 2005 Mizuno Cup Challenge she was named to the All-Tournament team for the second-straight season. Her teams were Gateway Region Champs three-straight seasons from 2002-2004. At the 2004 Northern Lights Qualifier her team finished 3rd in the open division.

"I expect Hannah to immediately contribute to our middle blocker position," said Coach Nowacki. "She is a tough competitor that comes from a traditionally rich program on both the prep and club levels. She knows what it takes to be successful and win. Her presence on the court will raise our overall level of play."

Boyer is 5-11 and will also compete at Southeast in the fall. The Herculaneum, Missouri native will walk-on but is expected to make a contribution immediately. She was a three-sport athlete at Herculaneum High School competing in basketball and track. She was a UC Conference honorable mention selection in 2005.

"Brooke is eager to learn and compete at the college level," said Coach Nowacki. "Her athleticism will add depth to our team. As she adapts to the speed of the college game, I expect her to make quick improvements."
