Jeremiah Larsen Joins Southeast Volleyball Coaching Staff

May 1, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State volleyball head coach Renata Nowacki has announced the appointment of Jeremiah Larsen as an assistant coach for the 2007 season. Larsen comes to Southeast after serving part of the spring as a volunteer assistant coach at Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah.

"I'm really excited with what Jeremiah can bring to this program as he comes from a high level of volleyball as a player, highlighted by winning a national championship at BYU, said Nowacki. "I feel he will add technical training right away to our team and he will serve as a good recruiting coordinator for us."

Prior to UVSC, Larsen served three seasons as head coach at Brighton High School in Sandy, Utah, where he guided to a 2006 Utah 5A state championship and a No. 9 national ranking by Prep Volleyball.com with a 30-1 record and earned Utah Coach of the Year honors from the Salt Lake Tribune. In addition, he coached at the Summit Volleyball Club for three years whom he helped to a national ranking of No. 15.

Larsen competed for four seasons and lettered two years as a setter/libero at Brigham Young University, where he was a member of the 2001 NCAA Division I and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) championship teams.

"It's a good opportunity because I think Southeast volleyball is a program on the rise. This is a huge thing for me with this being my first collegiate job to learn how to do a lot of good stuff with Renata (Nowacki) and to learn about recruiting," Larsen said. "I bring a lot to the program in terms of training, which is my strong suit, and I feel that we are going to have a good chance to take the OVC championship."
