Volleyball Squares Off Against Arkansas State

Sept. 19, 2005

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (September 19, 2005) After not having a match in over a week, the Redhawks looks to shake off the dust as they square off against Arkansas State tomorrow evening. "We had a good week of practices and are excited about playing again," said head coach Renata Nowacki. "It is always a back and forth match against Arkansas State, and this gives us a good opportunity to see where we stand before entering conference play on Friday."

Southeast enters the match with a 3-7 record, but are coming off a win against Oakland in the Radisson Hotel Invite on September 10. Southeast is led by seniors Lauren Scannell (169 digs) and Jill Miller (91 kills, 113 digs), as well as juniors Jamie Baumstark (335 assists) and Jessica Koeper (130 kills, 121 digs).

Arkansas State is currently 3-8 on the season and has lost four matches in row. Arkansas State owns victories against Tennessee-Martin, University of Missouri - Kansas City, and Southern Illinois. The Indians, who finished first in the Sun Belt Conference last season, are coached by Craig Cummings.

The match begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, AR. The Redhawks will remain on the road over the weekend, as they begin OVC play. They will travel to Tennessee-Martin on Friday, and then face Murray State on Saturday, in Murray, KY. The Friday match will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the Saturday match starting at 2:00 p.m.
