Karleigh DeLong Gains OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Accolades

Oct. 1, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State sophomore right side hitter Karleigh DeLong (Corona, Calif./Santiago) was picked along with Tennessee-Martin's Kathryn Sprague as the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Offensive Players of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. This is DeLong's first-ever collegiate weekly honor and the first for the Redhawks this season.

The 5-11 DeLong posted averages of 4.25 kills, 0.83 blocks and 0.58 service aces per game last week in leading Southeast to win two of its three matches to conclude a five-match homestand. She produced a double-double with 20 kills and 11 digs while tying a career high with four service aces in the Redhawks' 3-2 non-conference win over Memphis.

After posting 11 kills and four block assists against OVC-leading Morehead State, DeLong closed the week with 20 kills and 14 digs versus Eastern Kentucky. She currently ranks sixth in the OVC in both kills (3.63 kpg) and points (4.23 ppg).

The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow night at Murray State in an OVC match beginning at 7 p.m.
