Jessica Koeper Named OVC Offensive Player of the Week
Oct. 25, 2005 CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Tuesday, October 25, 2005) The Ohio Valley Conference named Southeast Missouri State outside hitter Jessica Koeper (Jackson, MO/Jackson) Offensive Player of the Week for the her performance last week. Koeper, a 5-10 junior, averaged 20 kills and 20 digs per match last week. Her averages per game included 4.62 kills per game, 4.76 digs per game and a .287 attack percentage last week. Her performance last week played a major role in the Redhawks (11-12, 7-3 OVC) extending their season-high match winning streak to five matches. Koeper, a preseason All-OVC selection, has recorded six-straight double-doubles during that time and currently leads the team with 14 double-doubles this season in 23 matches. In a non-conference showdown with regional rival Arkansas State Koeper came up one kill short of her second career 20-20 match. She recorded a team-high 19 kills on a match-high 49 attacks for an attack percentage of .296. She recorded 22 digs without a single receiving error and also tied a season-best with three block assists. Against Jacksonville State, Koeper had her most dominant offensive showing of the year as she recorded a season and match-high 24 kills. She attempted 56 kills and finished with an attack percentage of .339, her second best percentage of the season. Her 24.5 points in the match was a season-high. Her 24 kills were the second 20+ kill match of the season. She also added a team-high 16 digs. Koeper ended the week against Samford and posted 17 kills on 45 attacks for a .222 percentage. She tied a career and season-high with 24 digs. It was the third time this season she has recorded 20+ digs in a match. For the week she totaled 64 points for an average of 4.92 per game. Koeper joined teammate Jamie Baumstark (Hermann, MO/Hermann) as Redhawks who have garnered OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season. Baumstark received the honor August 29. Lauren Scannell (Belleville, IL/Southwestern Illinois College) also has garnered OVC weekly honors as she was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors on October 3.
